Baby on board
Me: Why is it that when I see a "baby on board" sticker on a car I give them some extra room, but when I see a "drive like your kids live here" sign, I speed up out of spite?
Dexter: Maybe it's because the "baby on board" sticker gives you information, whereas the "drive like your kids live here" sign sounds accusing.
Me: Yeah. It's like the sign actually says "we all know you are jerk behind the wheel and you'd just as soon run over my kids as slow down, but can you just pretend that your kids live here for a moment so as to briefly suppress your usual homicidal urges?"
Dexter: ... and your answer to this is no?
Me: Well, it's more like "why don't you tell your kids to treat the road like cars drive there."
